On June 30th, we were thrilled to witness one of our long-time partners, The Pontifical Mission Societies in the U.S. (TPMS), receive, alongside La Machi, one of the most prestigious honors in Catholic media: Magazine of the Year, awarded by the Catholic Media Association (CMA) for their flagship publication, MISSION Magazine.
At La Machi – Communication for Good Causes, we believe great storytelling can change the world. Seeing MISSION Magazine recognized at this level, alongside La Machi’s team, which has been involved in its design and editorial strategy, is a milestone.
The Mission and the Magazine
Originally founded by Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen—a pioneer of Catholic media—MISSION Magazine was born out of a desire to bring the Gospel to every corner of the world through the power of storytelling. During his tenure as National Director of The Pontifical Mission Societies in the U.S. from 1950 to 1966, Sheen launched the magazine to share the Church’s mission: to support those in need and evangelize with compassion, creativity, and clarity.
Today, MISSION Magazine continues that tradition under the leadership of Monsignor Roger J. Landry and Inés San Martín, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at TPMS. It remains a vibrant and modern expression of the Church’s call to serve the poor and proclaim the Gospel in today’s world.
Magazine of the Year
The Catholic Media Association (CMA) celebrates excellence in faith-based journalism and communication across North America. Each year, its awards honor those who reflect the Church’s mission of evangelization through compelling content.
The CMA evaluates submissions in five categories: All Member (Excellence across digital and individual contributions); Newspapers (Print and digital publications); Magazines and Newsletters (Including monthly and quarterly publications); Organizational Communications (Campaigns and materials outside traditional publications), and Spanish Language Media.
Out of hundreds of entries, MISSION Magazine rose to the top—an inspiring example of the Church’s message meeting the modern moment.
Communication is part of the Church’s DNA. From the Apostles to the digital age, the message has remained the same; only the medium has changed.
At La Machi, our mission is to translate timeless truths into meaningful content for today’s culture. For MISSION Magazine, we collaborated with the TPMS team to develop the visual identity, editorial design, and digital strategy that helped the magazine stand out in a crowded media landscape.
Congratulations to TPMS, and Onward Together
This award is a testament to the power of purpose-driven communication. Congratulations to the entire team at The Pontifical Mission Societies in the U.S. for their vision and trust.
At La Machi, we remain committed to helping organizations like TPMS bring light, faith, and meaning into the world—one story at a time. We’re excited each day for our work done in the United States, and we hope to provide even more to the Good Causes in the Northamerican continent.
